Program Description

The MDS-PAS Genetics of Movement Disorders course offers a comprehensive exploration of genetic movement disorders, with a focus on diagnostic strategies, clinical interpretation, and collaborative research opportunities across the Pan-American section. Expert-led sessions cover a range of topics, including the epidemiology of genetic movement disorders, genetic testing techniques, and the critical role of clinical phenomenology in interpreting test results. Participants will examine the complexities of negative exome sequencing, gain insights from real-world clinical experiences, and explore the diagnostic nuances of conditions such as genetic Parkinson’s disease, dystonias, Huntington’s disease, and genetic ataxias.
