Program Description

From Guidelines to Action: Movement Disorders Care Through Multidisciplinary Collaboration is an educational program presented by the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS). This course provides an overview of current best practices in the management and care of patients with movement disorders, with a focus on translating clinical guidelines into practical, real-world applications.

 

Participants will explore strategies for improving patient outcomes through interdisciplinary teamwork and shared clinical decision-making. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1. Critically review current best practices in the diagnosis, treatment, and multidisciplinary management of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders

2. Identify common motor, cognitive, behavioral, speech, swallowing, and quality-of-life challenges experienced by individuals living with movement disorders

3. Discuss the roles of interdisciplinary healthcare professionals in the evaluation, treatment, and long-term management of patients with movement disorders across diverse care settings

4. Apply practical strategies to improve patient outcomes through collaborative care, shared clinical decision-making, and evidence-based interventions

5. Describe emerging approaches and evolving therapies in movement disorders care, including surgical therapies, genetics, precision medicine, and rehabilitation-based interventions


INTENDED AUDIENCE

This activity is intended for clinicians, clinical fellows, neurology residents, allied health professionals with an interest in current clinical trends and approaches for diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders.
