LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1. Describe the pathophysiology underlying gait dysfunction and the associated clinical manifestations during the early and later stages of Parkinson disease

2. Describe a framework for standardized gait assessment to capture dysfunction in the laboratory, clinic and real-world, leveraging advances in technology, and its applicability to early and later stages of the disease

3. Summarize exercise, training based and lifestyle interventions that target gait dysfunction during the early stages of Parkinson disease and describe a treatment plan that optimizes integration into everyday life. 

4. Summarize innovative compensatory approaches to help people with PD cope with their gait problems based on an enriched understanding of the neurophysiology of late-stage gait deficits.

5. Gain confidence in the management of higher order, ataxia and functional gait disorders
