Course Purpose

The primary purpose of this program is to provide information on continuing education for physicians who care for Parkinson’s disease (PD) and movement disorders patients. Both standard approaches and new advances are highlighted.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1. List “common” autosomal dominant forms of PD

2. List “common” autosomal recessive forms of PD

3. List other genes associated with parkinsonism

4. Accurately recognize the visual patterns of motor fluctuations in Parkinson’s disease patients and possible non-motor behavioral comorbidities

5. Adjust pharmacologic regimens to stabilize the motor complications of Parkinson’s disease

6. Develop a framework for using genetic testing in their patients presenting with PD

Intended Audience

This activity is intended for neurologists, primary care physicians with an interest in movement disorders, neurology residents and movement disorder fellows.

Method of Participation

Contained within the module is a pre-test, an article with supplementary case videos, a post-test, and an evaluation. Once you have complete the module and completed the evaluation, you will receive your CME certificate.
