Course Purpose

The primary purpose of this program is to provide information on rehabilitation for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders.

The opening sessions of day one will focus on topic presentations and discussion centered on Parkinson’s disease updates. The second half of day one will focus on how to use and optimize Parkinson's care by implementing various rehabilitation techniques. The second day will focus on aspects related to various other movement disorders, including dystonia and ataxia. The movement disorders’ guidelines for decision support, assessment and management of Parkinson’s disease, and other movement disorders will be used as a guide throughout these sessions.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners will be able to:
1. Describe the clinical presentation, management, and progression of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders
2. Summarize the rationale of rehabilitative approaches in people with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders
3. Identify the key areas of rehabilitation in people with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders
4. Describe the reasoning behind designing and modifying a patient-specific treatment plan
5. Identify strategies for collaborating with physicians and other health professional

Intended Audience

This activity is intended for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and PD nurse specialists.

Interactive Sessions

The course will be streamed over 2 days and will feature a mix of streamed lectures and live interactive Q&A sessions where participants can engage with the learned material. Lectures will integrate video-clinical cases to enhance the learning experience and facilitate a deeper understanding of the provided material.
