Program Description

The MDS-AOS 3rd School for Young Neurologists is an online opportunity for early career neurologists who are interested in specializing in Movement Disorders to receive in-depth instruction from internationally-recognized Movement Disorders experts.
Topics will focus on Parkinsonism, hyperkinetic disorders and complex issues in movement disorders. Attendees will participate in lectures with videos covering fundamental topic talks, virtual patient examinations, and bring your own case presentations from students and faculty.

Course Purpose

The primary purpose of this course is to provide an overview of movement disorders. This online program will heavily feature interactive components similar to the pervious in-person schools.

 

Student Video Case Competition

The School for Young Neurologists will feature a Student Video Case Session, an opportunity for select students to present their own video case to the class. Please confirm your interest in bringing a video case in the SYN Application form. The course directors will select up to 6 interested students to present their video case presentation, with the top video case presenter winning free registration to the next (in-person) Congress.

MDS Non-Members: $50 USD

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Examine a patient with a movement disorder
  2. Reach a diagnosis on straightforward movement disorders cases
  3. Propose a differential diagnosis on more complex movement disorders patients
  4. Present a movement disorders case history
  5. Design, review and modify a patient treatment plan

Intended Audience

This course is intended for early career neurology residents / neurologists who are interested in movement disorders, and neurology fellows who are already training in movement disorders.

Interactive Sessions

Lectures will be pre-recorded in advance and live streamed the date of the program with an interactive question answer session immediately following the recorded presentations.  Attendees are able to submit questions to expert panel in real time, and have the opportunity to answer multiple choice questions as the presentations are streamed online. 

The virtual version of the MDS-AOS 3rd School for Young Neurologists will include lectures with video examples to present core topics. Additional Interactive components will be incorporated to supplement the lectures with live question and answer sessions, panel discussions to share practical and clinical advice, and additional video case presentations from students and faculty.
