As part of the MDS Curriculum Track "Pathophysiology of Dystonia," these curated resources will provide the learner with an overview of causal proteins and their mutual related effects in genotypic animal models of dystonia, review in-depth genetic testing, the role of cholinergic interneurons in the pathophysiology of movement disorders, including dystonia and additional resources.
This course is best enrolled in as part of the curriculum track, but this program can also be enrolled independently.

The primary purpose of this program is to provide information on the pathophysiology of dystonia.
At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to: 1. Describe the variety of etiological factors leading to dystonia including idiopathic, genetic, and acquired causes.2. Learn about the genotypic and phenotypic animal models that provide insight into the pathophysiological basis of dystonia.3. Gain an appreciation of the anatomical and physiological abnormalities in dystonia that lead to its conception as a network disorder.
The activity is intended for students, residents, neurologists, neurosurgeons, specialist nurses, and health professionals.
