Course Purpose

The primary purpose of this course is to introduce basic scientists to clinical aspects of movement disorders and to define major unmet needs in diagnostics or therapeutics from the perspective of clinicians.

The faculty consists of clinician-scientists who care for patients with movement disorders in the clinic and pursue lab-based research using molecular biology methods and experimental models to advance our understanding of these diseases.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners will be able to:

  1. Define the clinical features of essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism, Huntington’s disease, and hereditary cerebellar ataxia
  2. Identify important unmet needs in diagnostics and therapeutics for movement disorders
  3. Apply basic science approaches, including molecular biology methods and experimental models, to advance our understanding of movement disorders to address the major unmet needs

This activity is intended for Basic Science Researchers, Translational Researchers, Movement Disorder Specialists, Movement DIsorders Fellows, Neurologist Residents, Medical Students, Graduate Students, and Post-doctorate Fellows.
