Program Description

The MDS-AOS 4th School for Young Neurologists is an online course similar to the previous third school which gained success, this course simulates the previous two live courses. The framework intends to preserve the interactive hands-on spirit of the program while accommodating the necessary online format. It is an opportunity for young neurologists who are interested in specializing in Movement Disorders to receive in depth instructions from internationally-recognized Movement Disorders experts.

Course Purpose

The primary purpose of this course is to provide an overview of movement disorders. This online program will heavily feature interactive components similar to the previous in-person schools.


Student Video Case Competition

The School for Young Neurologists will feature a Student Video Case Session, an opportunity for select students to present their own video case to the class. Please confirm your interest in bringing a video case in the SYN Application form. The course directors will select up to 6 interested students to present their video case presentation, with the top video case presenter winning free registration to the next in-person Congress in 2023.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1. Examine a patient with a movement disorder 

2. Identify a phenomenology of a movement disorder 

3. Propose a differential diagnosis on movement disorders  

4. Design, review and modify a patient treatment plan 

5. Present a movement disorders case history

Intended Audience

This activity is intended for general neurologists, clinical fellows, movement disorders fellows, neurology residents, and clinical researchers.

Hardware and Software Requirement

1. Active Internet connection (DSL or Cable). Dial-up connection will have constant buffering problem.

2. Compatible with Windows PC and MAC (256 MB of RAM or higher)

3. Activity is best viewed on Internet Explorer 9.0 or higher, Safari 5.0 or higher and Firefox 29.0 or higher

4. Adobe Flash Player 12.0 (or higher). 

5. Adobe Reader to print certificate.

Interactive Sessions

Lectures will be pre-recorded in advance and live streamed the dates of the program with an interactive question answer session immediately following the recorded presentations. Attendees are able to submit questions to expert panel in real time, and have the opportunity to answer multiple choice questions as the presentations are streamed online.
