The primary purpose of this program is to provide industry professionals with a basic knowledge of Parkinson's disease from a diagnostic and therapeutic perspective, empowering them to better understand the challenges of this disorder and its treatment.

Course Purpose

As the premier medical society in the world that focuses on movement disorders, MDS is uniquely positioned to provide a program that will help industry professionals better understand Parkinson’s disease and give them the ability to work in a more informed manner.


There will be a patient/caregiver roundtable session in the program to enrich the participant’s knowledge on how PD impacts patients and their caregivers.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1. Recognize the differential diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease

2. Discuss the clinical features of Parkinson’s disease from early to advanced stages

3. Identify the benefits, limitations and complications of currently available treatments for PD including pharmacotherapy and surgery

4. Discuss non-motor features of Parkinson’s disease

5. Identify outcome measures, unmet needs, emerging therapies, and biomarkers for Parkinson’s disease

Intended Audience

This activity is intended for industry professionals who work for pharmaceutical and medical device companies.

Registration Cancellation Policy

Registration may be cancelled up until 2 weeks before the course, minus a $25 USD cancellation fee.  After this time, the registration fee is nonrefundable.

Attendee assumes all risks and accepts sole responsibility for any injury (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability or expense, of any kind, that they may experience or incur in connection with attending the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals.

The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society’s Pan American Section (MDS-PAS) has taken preventative measures to reduce the spread of communicable disease including, but not limited to COVID-19 (“Communicable Disease”) at the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals. However, MDS cannot guarantee that attendees will not be exposed to or contract a Communicable Disease at the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals. Further, due to the nature of the facilities, services and programs offered at the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals, participants understand that attending the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals could increase their risk of contracting a Communicable Disease. 

Attendee agrees to abide by all applicable COVID-19-related requirements, advisories, policies, procedures, and protocols of the hotel and MDS-PAS as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the city of Miami, the State of Florida, and any other governmental authority for the duration of their stay. 

Attendee understands the risk that they may be exposed to or infected by a Communicable Disease by attending the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals and that such exposure or infection may result in quarantine requirements, serious illness, permanent disability and/or death. Attendee further understands that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by a Communicable Disease at the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals may result from the actions, omissions or negligence of themselves and others, including, but not limited to, MDS-PAS, its officers, employees, contractors, agents, representatives, sponsors, other participants, and any owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals (“Releasees”). ATTENDEE KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUMES ALL SUCH RISKS, BOTH KNOWN AND UNKNOWN, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES, and assumes full responsibility for their participation in the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals. 


COVID-19 Vaccination

 

All those wishing to register for the Parkinson’s Disease Educational Course for Industry Professionals must be fully vaccinated or will be fully vaccinated by the time of the course. You may be asked for proof of this vaccination on site. If you agree to this, you may proceed with course registration. Your completion of registration serves as your agreement to this statement.
