Program Description

The in-person MDS-AOS Skills Workshop in Movement Disorders Course provides an overview of the therapeutic uses of Botulinum Neurotoxin (BoNT) in movement disorders. This 2-day thorough and intensive training incorporates balanced and comprehensive didactic lectures, the opportunity to ask questions on uncertain areas, and true assessment of understanding of concepts and readiness for injection. In addition, students will receive focused exposure through demonstrations from skilled BoNT injectors to provide a comprehensive insight to techniques and implications of BoNT in movement disorders.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners will be able to:

  1. Summarize basics of botulinum toxin and its pharmacology
  2. Demonstrate use of botulinum toxin on several movement disorders
  3. Identify indications and hands-on for Deep Brain Stimulation and Pump Therapies in Parkinson's disease and movement disorders patients.
