Program Description

The MDS-ES Controversies in Parkinson's Disease Research course will adopt a "controversies" format where each selected "hot" scientific question will give rise to opposed views, each being defended by a renowned faculty. The program will allow ample time for interactive discussion between the opposing faculties and the course participants.  The course will also feature a hands-on component with laboratory experimental content for clinicians and clinic-oriented content for basic scientists.

Additionally, lectures will be posted as they are received from the program faculty. Lectures will remain available for 60 day

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners will be able to: 

1. Recognize the disease complexity and recognize and reject dogmatic simplistic views

2. Recognize clinical implications of recent basic science developments in Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders

3. Discuss the translational value of preclinical models of Parkinson's disease

Attendee assumes all risks and accepts sole responsibility for any injury (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability or expense, of any kind, that they may experience or incur in connection with attending the MDS-ES Controversies in Parkinson's Disease Research.

The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society’s European Section  (MDS-ES) has taken preventative measures to reduce the spread of communicable disease including, but not limited to COVID-19 (“Communicable Disease”) at the MDS-ES Controversies in Parkinson's Disease Research. However, MDS cannot guarantee that attendees will not be exposed to or contract a Communicable Disease at the MDS-ES Controversies in Parkinson's Disease Research. Further, due to the nature of the facilities, services and programs offered at the MDS-ES Controversies in Parkinson's Disease Research, participants understand that attending the MDS-ES Controversies in Parkinson's Disease Research could increase their risk of contracting a Communicable Disease.

Attendee agrees to abide by all applicable COVID-19-related requirements, advisories, policies, procedures, and protocols of the hotel and MDS-ES as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the city of Bordeaux, and any other governmental authority for the duration of their stay.

Attendee understands the risk that they may be exposed to or infected by a Communicable Disease by attending the MDS-ES Controversies in Parkinson's Disease Research and that such exposure or infection may result in quarantine requirements, serious illness, permanent disability and/or death. Attendee further understands that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by a Communicable Disease at the MDS-ES Controversies in Parkinson's Disease Research may result from the actions, omissions or negligence of themselves and others, including, but not limited to, MDS-ES, its officers, employees, contractors, agents, representatives, sponsors, other participants, and any owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the MDS-ES Controversies in Parkinson's Disease Research (“Releasees”).
