Course Purpose

The primary purpose of this course is to focus on the age at onset (AAO) of motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease (PD) has been reported to vary in different geographic regions and in general is earlier in Asia-Oceanian (AOS) region. In addition, there is a higher prevalence of Early-onset Parkinson’s disease (EOPD) [AAO between 21-50 years] in AOS.  The profile of motor and non-motor symptoms in EOPD are often different from late-onset PD.  Genetic causes are being increasingly identified in EOPD and management of EOPD is also more challenging.
