MDS-AOS Journal Club: Translational and Clinical Medicine

Program Description

Each session is 2 hours in duration and led by participants from invited countries within the AOS.

An advisory panel will select the publication(s) and year for each session. The rotating advisory board members will then reach out to residents and fellows within their respective countries to prepare for the session. Participants will receive articles and materials ahead of the sessions. The presenter (resident or fellow) will have 30 minutes to present the journal main points and its relevance in the practice of Movement Disorders. This presentation will be pre-recorded and streamed live. The advisory board member for the presenting country will then moderate a 15-minute live panel discussion with the presenter and other advisory board members. This will be followed by a live Q&A session for 15 minutes.

Course Purpose

The primary purpose of this course is to focus on journal articles that will highlight transnational and clinical medicine from the invited country within the AOS.


The Club’s proposed audience would be young members and non-members with an interest in Movement Disorders.


The following articles will be discussed during Session 2 of this course:

Journal 1: How is Functional Neurological Disorder Managed in Australian Hospitals? A Multi-Site Study Conducted on Acute Inpatient and Inpatient Rehabilitation Wards

Journal 2: Clinical Features, Neuroimaging, and Levodopa-Responsiveness in Holmes’ Tremor: A Video-Based Case-Series with a Review of the Literature

Intended Audience

This intermediate-level activity is aimed at movement disorders fellows, neurology residents, medical students and transnational researchers.
