Program Description

This MDS-Africa online course aims to support doctors in improving their skills at diagnosing and managing movement disorders, through in-depth instruction from internationally recognized movement disorders experts. This course will take place over two days – one dedicated to French language instruction, the other exclusively in English.

Course Purpose

The primary purpose of this course is to support doctors in improving their skills diagnosing and managing movement disorders in clinical practice.


Participants will attend didactic lectures as well as panel discussions with question-and-answer sessions and video cases presentations. Topics will focus on the most frequent hypo- and hyperkinetic movement disorders as well as

patient management issues. This course is intended for French and English speaking general practitioners,

general neurologists and neurology residents.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners will be able to:

  1. Examine a patient with a movement disorder
  2. Recognize straightforward movement disorder cases
  3. Propose a differential diagnosis on movement disorders patients
  4. Discuss management strategies in movement disorders

Intended Audience

This activity is intended for General Neurologists, Primary Care Clinicians, Clinical Fellows and Neurology Residents. 

Hardware and Software Requirement

1. Active Internet connection (DSL or Cable). Dial-up connection will have constant buffering problem.
2. Compatible with Windows PC and MAC (256 MB of RAM or higher)
3. Activity is best viewed on Internet Explorer 9.0 or higher, Safari 5.0 or higher and Firefox 29.0 or higher
4. Adobe Flash Player 12.0 (or higher).
5. Adobe Reader to print certificate.
