Program Description

This 10-week online course is comprised of 5 modules on topics that include Parkinson's disease, atypical and acquired parkinsonism, tremor, dystonia, chorea, drug-induced movement disorders, myoclonus, tics and pediatric movement disorders. Each module is led by a group of international experts over a two-week period with interactive Zoom lectures and activities covering key concepts allowing interaction with faculty and other course participants.

Accreditation and Credit Designation

ACCREDITATION STATEMENT

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.


CREDIT DESIGNATION STATEMENT

The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society designates this activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.


FACULTY DISCLOSURE

SATISFACTORY COMPLETION

Participants must complete an evaluation for each session they attend to receive continuing medical education credit. Your chosen session(s) must be attended in their entirety. Partial credit for individual sessions is not available.


CONTENT VALIDITY STATMENT

All recommendations involving clinical medicine in MDS activities are based on evidence that is accepted within the profession of medicine as adequate justification for their indications and contraindications in the case of patients. All scientific research referred to, reported or used in CME in support or justification of a patient care recommendations conforms to the generally accepted standards of experimental design, data collection and analysis. Activities that promote recommendations, treatment or manners of practicing medicine not within the definition of CME or are knowing to have risks or dangers that outweigh the benefits or are knowing to be ineffective in the treatment of patients do not constitute valid CME.

COURSE SCHEDULE

This 10-week course is different than previous online courses and consists of 5 module topics, each structured over a two-week period. Throughout each module participants will be asked to watch faculty lectures, collaborate on group activities, actively participate on the course discussion board, submit video case presentations, and complete module assessments.

Please note registration is for the entire course duration (June 20 - August 28, 2024). Registration capacity is limited to keep group sizes small.


This is an application based course. Registration will be free to accepted applicants.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to: 

1. Summarize the approach to correct history of patients with movement disorders

2. Examine a patient with a movement disorder

3. Identify the causes and correct management of movement disorders

4. Compose a formal case presentation

5. Join collaborative discussions and consultations amongst peers


INTENDED AUDIENCE

This activity is intended for general neurologists, movement disorders fellows, clinical scientists, senior and young neurology residents interested in specializing in movement disorders.
