Program Description

This 5-part online series course will provide participants with the fundamental knowledge to suspect, perform and interpret genetic testing. The educational content will further include discussion about some important topics such as differences in genetic techniques and analyses, assessment of pathogenicity and interpretation of the results, the case of “double-trouble” and the importance of back-phenotyping. This online course will incorporate case presentations from junior delegates to ensure a highly interactive program.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to: 

1. Identify the most common genetic movement disorders

2. Describe the most appropriate genetic analyses to perform in selected cases

3. Summarize and remark on the genetic reporting

4. Describe the main issue with regards to genetic analysis

5. Compare genetic findings to assess pathogenicity and relevance to the clinical phenotype
