LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to: 

1. Develop a framework for the application of deep brain stimulation in the treatment of status dystonicus, cerebral palsy, and hyperkinetic movement disorders

2. Define emerging disease-modifying therapies for genetic movement disorders

3. Summarize the current approach to managing status dystonicus and other movement disorder emergencies in children

4. Describe the expanding molecular and clinical spectrum of epilepsy-dyskinesia syndromes

5. Develop an approach to palliative care for progressive movement disorders and transition of care from pediatric to adult neurology

INTENDED AUDIENCE

This activity is intended for for clinicians, fellows, residents, students, researchers, and health professionals.

Poster Session - Abstract Submission Available

The organizers invite interested participants to submit an abstract to be presented during the Poster Session on Day 2 of the MDS-PAS Pediatric Movement Disorders Course.  Abstracts must be submitted on topics that are in line with the course program.  Once an abstract is accepted, the presenter must complete course registration. Registration will close two weeks before the course on May 23, 2025. Please note that abstract acceptance does not include a travel grant award. If you are interested in receiving a travel grant, you must also apply via the application link at the top of this page.

In addition, participants will have the opportunity to submit their own pediatric patient case presentation prior to the course to be considered for one of the two video case sessions. These sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to see various pediatric cases and hear how the panel of experts evaluate those cases.  Additional information regarding the video case submissions will be provided following course registration.
