Program Description

The MDS-AS Overview of Movement Disorders for Physicians, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals is a two and a half day in-person course for physicians, nurses and allied health professionals to improve knowledge of the diagnosis, treatment, and care of Parkinson’s and other movement disorders held in Accra, Ghana, West Africa.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to: 

  1. Improve recognition and diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease and common movement disorders
  2. Improve management of movement disorders focus on Parkinson’s disease (motor and non-motor symptoms)
  3. Increase multidisciplinary involvement of nurses and AHPs, engagement with support groups, and access to information for patients and caregivers and learn strategies to reduce stigma.


INTENDED AUDIENCE

This activity is intended for: General Neurologists, Primary Care Physicians, Neurology Residents, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physio / Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Physician Assistants and Psychologists.
