Program Description

This course addresses the global practice gap in the diagnosis and management of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, with the aim to equip healthcare professionals with the latest evidence-based approaches to improve early diagnosis, treatment precision, and patient outcomes.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

1. Describe key advances in the biological classification, genetic diagnostics, and emerging therapies for Parkinson’s disease.

2. Evaluate the current and future roles of deep brain stimulation (DBS), including closed-loop systems and other neuromodulation strategies.

3. Interpret the utility of biomarkers in diagnosing and tracking progression of movement disorders.

4. Summarize evolving treatment approaches for other major movement disorders, including Huntington’s disease, PSP, dystonia, and essential tremor.

5. Critically assess innovative and emerging interventions, such as stem cell therapies and neurorehabilitation.

This activity is intended for clinicians, researchers, clinical fellows, medical residents, medical students, allied health professionals with an interest in current clinical trends and approaches for diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders.
