Add Online-External Course

 

Overview:

 

Learners are able to select online external from the course catalog only if online external is setup for public access. Administrative user is able to add online external course type by selecting the "Add New" button on the course listing grid and then selecting Course Type equals to Online and checking the "External" check box.

 

Online External course is created for the learner to access linked courses on other websites/3rd party links.

 

Each course is connected with the unique job code. So, first select the course Job Code defined for the online course you would like to associate with. The Add New option allows you to define the Job Code for the course, if is not defined.

 

Course Job Code

The Job Code is unique to each course. All LMS courses are connected with the job code.

 

Course Type

Select Online from the Course Type drop down data field. Upon selecting the course type, system will display two course selection options i.e. List Only Course and External.

 

Check the External check box.

 

Confirmation

System displays an overlay confirmation message window.

 

Click Yes to confirm about adding a Online course with External type.
 

 

 

 

Select Configuration Options for Online External Course:

 

 

Course Job Code

Select a job code based on online course is required to be created. Select Add New option to create a new job code, if required.

 

Course Type

Select Online course type from the drop down.

 

Accredited Course

Check "Accredited Course?" check box if the course is accredited, keep it unchecked if the course is “non-accredited”.

 

Course for Member and/or Non-Member

Course can be setup for member or non-member OR both. Both check boxes can be selected if the course is eligible for both MDS members and non-members. Select required check box option(s) based on the requirement.

 

Configuration Options Tabs

There are certain configuration settings involved for setting up the course. These configuration settings are grouped into different tabs based on course type. For example, Pre-Assessment, Post-Assessment, eCommerce, Badge, etc. 

 

 

 

Basic Info. and the CMS configuration options are common for all course types except external courses.

 

Below listed configuration tabs are shown in the course setup screen based on the configuration option(s) selected:

2.Content Indexing

 

After selecting configuration options, click Save button to save the course information. Upon successfully saving the course information, system will display the message, "Course has been updated successfully.".
